Now Available to Stream on Stage Access

NEW YORK (January 11, 2023) – On January 14, 1900, Giacomo Puccini’s opera in three acts, Tosca, premiered in Rome to packed houses. Exactly 123 years since that historic event, Stage Access brings the acclaimed Wiener Staatsoper production of Tosca to streaming beginning Friday, featuring an exclusive introduction by Emmy® and Grammy® winning performer Kelsey Grammer.

Starring soprano superstar Anna Netrebko in the title role, Tosca was originally produced by the Vienna State Opera on December 13, 2020, in the classic Margarethe Wallmann production, conducted by Bertrand de Billy.

Both opera lovers and novices alike will become more familiar with Tosca and its enduring legacy in a special introduction by Grammer, the on-screen host for Stage Access, the streaming service dedicated to performing arts. Grammer’s introduction to the Wiener Staatsoper’s production of Tosca debuts on Stage Access on Saturday, January 14, to mark the anniversary of the opera’s first public performance.

On the same day, Stage Access will also debut Grammer’s introduction to the extraordinary Hamburg Ballet production of John Neumeier’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, also performed and captured without an audience. This Stage Access co-production envelops viewers in the beauty, magic, mystery and delight of Neumeier’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s play, recorded in stunning 4K resolution.

“The pandemic couldn’t keep these exquisite, unforgettable performances in a way off the stage,” said Tripp Hornick, COO of Stage Access. “Even as audiences around the world fortunately are able to return to the theater to see operas and ballets live, Stage Access makes it possible to see the best performers in the world in flawless productions – anytime and anywhere.”

Tosca stars Netrebko as Floria Tosca and also features Yusif Eyvazov as Mario Cavaradossi, Wolfgang Koch as Baron Scarpia, and Evgeny Solodovnikov as Cesare Angelotti. Tosca is presented with or without subtitles.

Neumeier’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, co-produced by Stage Access, features music by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Györgi Ligeti in a production featuring sets and costumes designed by Jürgen Rose. Principal dancers include Alexandr Trusch, Anna Laudere, Edvin Revazov and Hélène Bouchet.

Both productions, along with the introductions by Kelsey Grammer, stream exclusively on Stage Access in North America.
